Westminster, MD - The Falcons went into McDaniel on Tuesday riding a six dual winning streak. They left with a seventh straight decision, taking out the green and gold by a score of 26-12.
The match's lone pin was recorded by senior
Matt Cross at the 0:55 mark in the 174 lb. weight class. Cross' decision was the fourth of six straight for the Falcons as they overcame an early 6-3 deficit to go up 26-6.
"This was a great way to end our dual-meet season," said Messiah head coach
Bryan Brunk. "We were sharp, and we competed throughout the entire day. We've been wrestling well, especially lately."
Messiah, who moves to 16-6 on the season with the win, will take a break from the mat until they participate in the Empire Conference Wrestling Championships scheduled for Saturday, February 25.
Brunk believes his team will be ready to perform at their best in the championship event.
"Our guys are focused on getting sharp and being mentally prepared," said Brunk, who noted that the team will continue to adjust practices with the expectation of maximizing preparation time. "Our coaches and our guys believe we'll be ready to give our best performance on that Saturday."
