Greenwood, IN – The 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Men's and Women's Soccer teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, were released on Thursday with Messiah's Joshua Wood, Alicia Frey, and Ali Rogers listed among the award recipients.

Each year, CoSIDA elects Academic All-District members across NCAA Division I, II, III, and "College Division."  The College Division is comprised of NAIA, two-year, and Canadian student-athletes. Student-athletes are nominated by current CoSIDA members—usually an institution's Sports Information Director— and must carry at least 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Nominated student-athletes must also be of sophomore athletic eligibility and be significant contributors to the success of their team.

Those selected as First Team Academic All-District will be eligible for the All-American team to be selected later in the season. Since 2011, both the All-District and All-American awards have been sponsored by Capital One.

Wood earned the honor for the second-straight season. As a Cross Cultural Christian Ministries major he is carrying a 3.71 cumulative GPA. A fifth-year senior for Messiah, he is currently ninth in the nation in total goals (16) and 17th in total points (36). Through Wednesday's win over Arcadia University, Wood now owns 46 career goals and 19 career assists.

The former Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year has twice been named All-Commonwealth (2009, 2012) and once All-Region (2009). Wood's career is all the more impressive considering he played in just 11 total games combined between the 2010 and 2011 seasons due to multiple injuries. After regaining his health prior to the 2012 season he has become one of the most forceful and dangerous forwards in the nation.

Like Wood, Frey also earned the honor for a second-straight season. Last year she was also named an Academic All-American. She is a Mathematics major with a 3.73 cumulative GPA. The dynamic midfielder of the two-time defending National Champions holds career totals of 28 goals and 18 assists through Tuesday's win over Arcadia University.

Frey is arguably the most complete player in the nation and has successfully filled a number of roles throughout her career. She earned Commonwealth Rookie of the Year honors in 2010 after posting 14 goals and 10 assists and has been named All-Commonwealth in each of her seasons. After playing primarily in the midfield and on defense since her first-year campaign, Frey also earned All-Region and All-American honors in 2012.

Rogers was named Academic All-District for the first time in her career. A Psychology major with a 3.82 cumulative GPA, she has been a stalwart performer in the Falcons' backfield. The Falcons are currently seventh in the nation in both goals against average (0.28) and shutout percentage (0.88). This season Rogers and her teammates have truly impressed on the defensive end by holding opponents to less than five shots in 14 of their 18 games.

Rogers holds career totals of 11 goals and seven assists.
