MAC Full Release
Annville, PA – Three Falcons received recognition today on All-Commonwealth teams from The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) for their outstanding play on the court.
A Falcon was represented on each team as
Michael Brookhart made the First Team,
Justin Meckley made the Second Team, and
David Wichert secured an Honorable Mention selection.
The three standouts all played into the Commonwealth playoffs, where Messiah made it to the finals against the eventual champion Elizabethtown Blue Jays. The Falcons finished the year at 10-6 overall.
Brookhart made the First Team selection in his second year of play with the Falcons. Last year he was rewarded with
Rookie of the Year honors. Brookhart finished the season with a 10-4 overall record and a three-match win streak. He played all of his matches from the No. 1 position. In doubles competition, he played the majority of his matches with
Luke Hostetter and had a 5-5 overall record.
Meckley's Second Team award will be the only one of his career, as he played as a senior this year. Nevertheless, Meckley was 7-4 overall this season and 4-1 in the conference. From the No. 2 spot he was 2-2 and at No. 3 he finished 5-2. In doubles competition he was 5-7 overall from the No. 2 spot, playing with
Peter Shuck.
Wichert completed his best year thus far as a Falcon and received honorable mention for it. He finished with an overall record of 13-1 and 7-0 in conference play. Wichert also finished off with a win streak of 11 matches, spanning back to March 13. He competed mostly from the No. 5 spot, with an 8-1 record there. In doubles play the majority of his matches came in the No. 3 spot with
Zachary Brunner and had a 5-4 overall record.
Taking Player of the Year was Jason Mifsud from Lycoming College and Coach of the Year belongs to Matt Helsel from Elizabethtown College. Cody Manmiller from Lebanon Valley College was named Rookie of the Year.
