Standout Falcon Wood Invited to MLS Combine

New York, NY – Messiah College's Joshua Wood became the third Falcon ever to be invited the Major League Soccer Combine. Wood, who was named the 2013 NSCAA Division III National Player of the Year, will compete in the Combine this weekend in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

"It's really a great experience for Josh to be able to go down to Florida for the Combine," Messiah head coach Brad McCarty said. "To be able to play, train, and get to know other high caliber players is a brilliant opportunity, and I believe he will make the most of it."
 
Wood joins Hayden Woodworth '03 and Kai Kasiguran '08 as the only Falcons' players to travel to the MLS event.
 
This season Wood completed one of the most decorated careers in Falcons history. In addition to his Player of the Year honors, Wood was First Team Mid-Atlantic All-Region, First Team All-Commonwealth, was named the MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was named both Capital One Academic All-District and All-American, and is also a finalist for Messiah's annual Senior Scholar-Athlete award.
