Newville, PA - The Falcons' cross country teams competed in NCAA Regionals on Saturday afternoon at Big Spring High School hosted by Dickinson College. Both the men and women's teams ran well, finishing in the top third of teams competing. The men placed 12th out of 47 teams and the women finished 16th of the 52 teams racing.
 
On the men's side, Carnige Mellon won the Regional with a score of 90. The Falcons finished with a team score of 372 placing them 12th in the field.

Men's Cross-Country Runners

 
Jared Schatz led the Falcons with a 30th place finish, completing the 8k course in 25:51.8. Tyler Sensenig was just seconds behind Schatz, placing 33rd with a time of 25:53.7. Placing third for the Falcons was Cameron Shirk with a time of 26:52.0, 81st overall. Christopher Scheib finished fourth for the Falcons and 112nd overall with a time of 27:15.1. Wrapped up the Falcons scoring with a 118th place finish was Nathaniel Pardoe (27:20.6).

"The men had a great attitude going into the race and I'm very pleased and impressed with their positive emotional maturity as a focused top seven." Said Coach Dale Fogelsanger of his men today, "With the growth of our junior class over the last three years, I am very excited about prospects for their senior season next year."

Women's Cross-Country Runners

In the 6k women's race, the Falcons finished in 16th place with a team score of 451.

Tasha Becker led the Falcons with a time of 23:30.3, placing 53rd overall. Holly Eliason (lifetime personal record: 24:15.7) and Alissa Rogers (24:16.5) finished less than a second apart, placing 90th and 92nd overall. Natalie Ross (24:27.0) finished fourth for the Falcons and 107th overall and Emma Barbagallo placed 113th with a personal record time of 24:31.1 to round out the Falcons scoring.

"I'm really pleased with the strength and depth of the women's team." Commented Folgelsanger, "With out top runners all returning next year, I'm excited about moving up in our regional standing."

With the completion of today's race the Falcons wrap up a successful season. Both Jared Schatz and Tyler Sensenig have an outside chance of advancing to NCAA Nationals but they will have to wait until after the final rankings are announced to learn of their fate.
