D3Hoops.com All-Region Teams
Grantham, PA - Freshman
Gillian Glackin and senior
Brad Bolen were honored by
D3Hoops.com on Monday with All-Region accolades. Glackin was named the Mid-Atlantic Rookie of the Year and Bolen was named Third Team.
A first year forward for Messiah, Glackin collected 10 double-doubles this season and finished second on the team with a 12.1 points per game (ppg) average. She also led the team with an 8.3 rebounds per game (rpg) average and shot 48.3 percent from the field and 75.7 percent from the free-throw line. She was also second overall in the Commonwealth with 2.3 blocks per game.
Glackin helped the Falcons to the Commonwealth Championship by averaging 10.5 ppg and 11 rpg in wins over Elizabethtown and Lebanon Valley. She then went on to score 16 points and grab 13 rebounds in Messiah's NCAA First Round win over Randolpoh Macon.
Glackin joins
Dori Gyori '13 as the only women's players to be named
D3Hoops.com All-Region in Messiah history (Gyori collected the honor twice).
Bolen was named Third Team All-Region after a tremendous season that included a career-high 20.9 ppg that was good for second in the Commonwealth. He also set career-best averages of 34.6 minutes per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game. A threat from behind the arc and slashing to the hoop he led the Falcons in scoring 16 times this and also shot a career-best 83.7 percent from the free-throw line on a team-high 147 attempts.
Â
Bolen eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career this season and is tied for seventh all-time in Messiah men's history with Rich Sider '74 at 1,368 points. He was also a two-time First Team All-Commonwealth selection and joins teammate David Ferndandez (2011) as a
D3Hoops.com All-Region honoree.
Â
Though the Falcons' chase of a Commonwealth title fell short, Messiah (19-6) did experience more than a few historic moments this season. Among them were the program-best 12-0 start and a ranking as high as No. 15 in the
D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll.
