Annville, PA – The Messiah men's lacrosse team was honored by the Commonwealth Conference with five players named to the Honorable Mention Team for 2014. The announcement comes just one day after the Falcons were eliminated from the Commonwealth playoffs.
Brooks Arnold was named as one of two goalkeepers on the honorable mention team. Arnold played and started in 14 games this season, collecting a 7.93 goals against average along the way. The sophomore stopped 136 shots and acquired a save percentage of .581.
On attack,
Will Franken joined the Honorable Mention Team as the Falcons' leading goal-scorer. Franken played in all 16 games this year and collected 36 goals on 88 shots. He also had the highest shot percentage this season, converting nearly 41% of the time.
Andrew Harris joined the Honorable Mention Team on the midfield, while
Braden Olson made the team as a short stick specialist. Olson picked up 27 ground balls and caused nine turnovers with the short stick. Olson also used his speed to be a factor in the clearing game.
Harris had his biggest game of 2014 against Elizabethtown, scoring three of the Falcons' nine goals in the victory.
Last, but not least,
Cody Rogers was named Honorable Mention with his efforts on the defense. Rogers started and played in all 16 games, picked up 29 ground balls, and caused 24 turnovers. Rogers played a big factor in keeping opponents' scorers at bay.
Arnold, Franken, and Harris have received the honor for the second-straight year, after making Honorable Mention in 2013.
