Greenwood, IN – The 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Men's Track & Field teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, were released last Thursday with Messiah's Trevor Stutzman listed among the award recipients.

Each year, CoSIDA elects Academic All-District members across NCAA Division I, II, III, and "College Division."  The College Division is comprised of NAIA, two-year, and Canadian student-athletes. Student-athletes are nominated by current CoSIDA members—usually an institution's Sports Information Director— and must carry at least 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Nominated student-athletes must also be of sophomore athletic eligibility and be significant contributors to the success of their team.

Those selected as First Team Academic All-District will be eligible for the All-American team to be selected later in the season. Since 2011, Capital One has sponsored both the All-District and All-American awards.

Stutzman earned the honor for the first time in his career. A junior Nutrition & Dietetics major, Stutzman carries a 3.68 cumulative GPA. This season he dominated much of the Middle Atlatnic Conference's throwing events; he was the MAC Champion in the Indoor Shot Put, Outdoor Shot Put, and Outdoor Discus. He qualified for the NCAA Championships in both seasons, throwing the Shot in the Indoor and both the Shot and Discus in the Outoor. He finished as an All-American each time in the Shot, landing eighth in the Indoor season and fifth in the Outdoor season.

Stutzman is the Falcons' first men's track & field student-athlete to earn CoSIDA honors since Hylton Kipe in 2002-03.
