Gillian Glackin was honored the Commonwealth Conference today in being named First Team All-Commonwealth. The award for Glackin is the second in as many years following a Rookie of the Year honor last season.
Impressively, Glackin averaged a double-double this season with 13.5 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game, respectively. Both totals were up from last year.
As a formidable interior presence, Glackin also averaged 1.7 blocks per game this season.
Glackin's ability to impact the game with scoring and rebounding led to 11 double-doubles across her 26 games played. She now has 21 double-doubles in her career.
If there was a knock against Glackin this season, it would be her 38% accuracy from the field, a percentage down more than 10 points from her first-year campaign. But much of that was surely due to the more intentional defensive schemes and double-teams thrown at her by opposing teams. And, despite her lower shooting from the field, Glackin improved her free-throw shooting to 77% this season.
Glackin was also effective at passing out of double-teams, evidenced by her assist per game total doubling from 0.7 to 1.5 in a year's time.
The Falcons' season came to an end just last night when they
fell to Player of the Year Kelecia Harris and Albright in the Commonwealth Tournament. They finished the season at 13-13.
