Annville, PA - The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) released on Thursday the recipients of the 2014-15 Winter Scholar-Athlete awards, with Messiah's Trevor Stutzman listed among the award winners.

The Scholar-Athlete award is given to a senior in each men's and women's sport of each sport season. Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 3.20 (4.0 scale). Historically, recipients hold GPA's north of 3.50 and are regarded as academic leaders in their respective sport.

The MAC Awards Committee bases selection of recipients on an even balance (50-50) of both academic and athletic prowess.

In his four seasons with Messiah, Stutzman has been a standout in throwing events in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Stutzman is a six-time MAC Champion – Indoor Shot Put, Outdoor Shot Put, and Outdoor Discus two times each.

Stutzman has also been on the biggest stage and performed extremely well. A three-time All-American, Stuzman threw a personal record 57' 11" and finished in fifth place in the Indoor Shot Put at this year's National Championships. Last year, at the National Championships, he finished fifth in the Outdoor Shot Put and eighth in the Indoor Shot Put for his other two All-American honors.

In the classroom Stutzman is a Nutrition and Dietetics major. He holds a 3.69 cumulative grade point average and last year he was named a Capital One Academic All-American. He has also been named to all three Academic All-Conference team since the award was started during his junior year, twice for indoor and once for outdoor track and field.
