Grantham, PA - Messiah College men's tennis defeated Stevenson 5-1 on Saturday to capture their second-straight Commonwealth Championship. The Falcons took two of three doubles match-ups to set up wins by Peter Shuck, Connor Graybeal, and Mike Kovacs in the singles matches.

Shuck rallied from a 3-6 opening loss to win 6-3 and 6-1 in his No. 3 singles match, and he was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

The day started off well for Messiah as they captured doubles wins behind Michael Brookhart and Tim Dunn (8-2) and Devin Esch and Connor Graybeal (8-2). Needing just three more wins to seal the victory, Shuck, Graybeal, and Kovacs answered the call. As mentioned, Shuck battled back against a tough opponent Conrad Ellis to earn the win, sealing the title for the Falcons after his teammates quickly won their respective matches.

Messiah will now play in their second-straight NCAA Tournament, which is slated to start next week. Fans are encouraged to follow GoMessiah.com for updates on the Falcons' bid and match-up.
