Below is a quick bio on each of the respective inductees:
Â
Jessica (Chambers) Enders – Softball
Jessica graduated in 2000 and, like Megan (above), was a two-sport student-athlete as she played both softball and field hockey. On the diamond—and more specifically from the circle— Jessica was named NFCA First Team All-American in 1999 thanks to a 19-3 record that included a 0.96 earned-run average and a .156 batting average against over 153.1 innings. Jessica was also named NFCA All-Region in both 1998 and 1999, and she was named the MAC Pitcher of the Year in 1999. Jessica was also a standout at the plate, evidenced by her .392 batting average, 13 doubles, and 32 RBI during her 1999 season.
Â
During her career with Messiah Jessica helped the softball team to two NCAA Division III Softball Championships (Elite 8), including back-to-back fifth place finishes in 1998 and 1999.
Â
Aftan (Fisher) Hoffer – Field Hockey
Aftan graduated in 2006 after completing a four-year career with field hockey that rivals most others in NCAA Division III history. She was named the 2005 NFHCA National Player of the Year, and was both a four-time NFHCA First Team All-American and four-time First Team All-Region Player. Aftan was named the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year in 2002 and the Player of the Year in 2005, and she was named First Team All-Conference in each season.
Â
Aftan helped the team finish as MAC Commonwealth Champion in each of her four seasons of play, and she twice helped the Falcons to Division III National Runner-Up finishes. Along the way she collected 226 career points and 58 career assists, both second in program history to teammate Danae (Chambers) Hollenbach, who was herself inducted into the Hall of Honor last year. Aftan is also third in program history with 84 career goals, trailing just Hollenbach '05 (111) and Jennifer Terranova '86 (85).
Â
Megan (Duke) Wells – Women's Lacrosse
Megan graduated in 2007 after playing four season of lacrosse and two seasons of field hockey. In 2004 Megan was named the MAC Rookie of the Year, and in 2006 she earned IWLCA First Team All-Region and Third Team All-American status. Megan was also named the MAC Player of the Year in 2006. In her final year as a Falcon Megan was named the Messiah Female Student-Athlete of the Year.
Â
As a member of the women's lacrosse program Megan helped the team to their first-ever MAC Championship in 2006, the same year Messiah advanced to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16. In addition to her achievements on the field, Megan worked tirelessly off the field in service-oriented positions such as Special Olympics, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and local church bible studies.
Megan will be the first-ever women's lacrosse player inducted into the Hall.
Â
Luke Drescher – Staff Member
Luke worked as an administrator at Messiah College from 1961-70 and served as the first-ever Athletic Director. Under his supervision the name "Falcons" was adopted as the athletics moniker, and many of the first sport programs moved from intramural to varsity status. Luke also served as head coach for at least one year within each of those first sport programs, including men's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, track & field, cross country, and baseball. His longest-tenured coaching position came with men's basketball, from 1961-62 through 1968-69.
Â
During his time at Messiah Luke also wrote and published "New Beginnings and Transitions", an historic review of the early days of Messiah physical education, intramural, and intercollegiate programming.
