NCAA Mideast Regional Weekend Homepage
Grantham, PA - Messiah College men's and women's cross country are refreshed and ready to compete in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional this weekend at DeSales University. See below for a preview of the Messiah teams.
Men
The Falcons are fresh off of a third-place finish at MAC Championships from two weeks ago, and will look to have runners compete at the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row.
Â
Over the course of the 2016 season, the men have been led by
Benjamin Schott and
Joshua Pardoe. Schott has recorded five top-10 finishes this season, and has finished first for the Falcons in every varsity race. He also finished a team high third-place at the 2016 MAC Championships, which earned him First Team All-MAC honors.
Â
Pardoe, on the other hand, has consistently placed among the top-20 in many of Messiah's races throughout the year. He also claimed Second Team All-MAC honors at MAC Championships with his 15th place finish. These two, plus the others comprising Messiah's top-seven, will look to improve upon last year's finish at the Regional Championships.
Â
Messiah finished in sixth place in 2015 at the NCAA Mideast Regional meet behind 12th-place finisher
Jared Schatz. Schatz was ultimately selected as one of 56 individuals chosen to run at the NCAA Championships and placed 85th overall there.
Â
The men's 8-kilometer race is set to start at 12:00 p.m.
Women
The Falcons recently finished runner-up at the 2016 MAC Championships, and will look to continue their success at the regional meet.
Â
The trio of
Alissa Rogers,
Natalie Ross, and
Leanne Weaver has highlighted the Falcons' 2016 campaign thus far. Rogers and Ross, running in their final collegiate seasons, have consistently placed in the top 15 at races throughout the year, while Weaver has burst onto the cross country scene this year.
Â
Weaver and Ross placed eighth and tenth place, respectively, at the 2016 MAC Championships to each earn First Team All-MAC honors while Rogers was right behind in 11th place to grab Second Team All-MAC honors.
Â
The Falcons placed 15th overall at the 2015 Regional Championships, with the top performance coming from
Alissa Rogers and her 58th place finish. Messiah will look to qualify their first NCAA runner since Erin Rhodes did so back in 2009.
Â
The women's 6-kilometer race is set to start at 11:00 a.m.
