Annville, PA – One day after earning a thrilling 73-66 win over Stevenson in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinal, Messiah College women's basketball placed three players on the All-MAC Commonwealth teams.
Gillian Glackin and Kaitlin Hoff were named First Team and Second Team, respectively, and
Alecia Rohrer was named the conference Rookie of the Year.
Glackin landed on the First Team for the second-straight season, and she also earned the Rookie of the Year honor back in 2012-13. She leads Messiah with 12.8 ppg and 8.5 rpg, and she's also collected a career-high 46 steals this season. Those all put her among the league leaders, as do her 1.8 bpg, which is second overall.
Last night Glackin put together a dominating performance to lead Messiah over Stevenson with career-high's in points (30) and rebounds (23) to go along with five blocked shots. She's now scored 66 points in her past three games and has collected eight double-doubles in 26 games played. Impressively, Glackin has also hit on 32 of her past 34 free-throw attempts and has pushed her season average to career-best 78.8%.
Kaitlin Hoff was named to the Second Team after establishing herself as one of the best point guards in the conference. In her second season with Messiah she has up career-high marks in points (9.5/game), assists (3.5/game), steals (1.3/game), and field-goal percentage (40.7). Hoff has been extra-effective as Messiah has pressed toward the postseason as she's scored in double-figures in six-straight games with an average of 4.8 apg.
True to her development as a top-flight conference guard, Hoff has also collected five-or-more assists in 11 of 26 games this year.
Alecia Rohrer earned the conference's top Rookie honor after averaging 9.3 ppg and 6.7 rpg across 26 games played. Although she has not started a single contest, Rohrer has shown the ability to take over games on both sides of the floor. She's scored in double-figures 12 times, grabbed double-digit rebounds five times, and collected four double-doubles, all while playing just 18.6 minutes per game.
As mentioned, the Falcons ousted Stevenson from the conference tournament last night and will now prepare for a MAC Commonwealth Championship game at Albright on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Messiah and Albright split two games in the regular-season, with team winning on their home court.
