University Park, PA – On a hot September day, the Messiah men's cross country team traveled to Penn State University to run in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. Though they were up against some steep competition, the Falcons were able to come away with some successful performances.

Leading the men in the 5.2-mile race were Benjamin Schott (29:29), Alex Scheib (29:36) and senior Joshua Pardoe (29:41). Those three finished 90th, 98th, and 99th, respectively.

Rounding out their top seven runners were Kaleb Burch (29:42), Nathaniel Pardoe (29:42), Kirk Mummert (30:28), and Adam Barley (30:31).

"Josh is becoming a consistent leader on the team as a senior," said head coach Dale Fogelsanger on Pardoe's growing impact on the team. Fogelsanger also spoke of the heat's affect on times today, but said, "racing in September heat is a part of our training."

The Falcons will continue their season at home on Sept. 24 when they host the Messiah Invitational at Starry Athletic Complex. The meet will serve as the MAC Championship preview, as Messiah hosts the championship meet on Oct. 29.
