Why women's soccer at Messiah?

Messiah has established itself as possibly the most accomplished NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer program since the turn of the century in 2000. Over the past 17 seasons head coach Scott Frey and the Falcons have amassed a record of 362-20-20 (.925) with Messiah qualifying for 17-straight NCAA Tournaments.

The Falcons have advanced to the Final Four in 12 of the previous 17 seasons, and have won five National Championships – 2005, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012 – with National Runner-Up finishes in four other campaigns.

In all, 17 Falcon players have been named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, and 32 players have earned NSCAA Division III All-American status. A Messiah player has also been tabbed the NCAA Division III Player of the Year on four separate ocassions.

The unique and distinctive aspect of Messiah’s team though is its commitment to the Christian faith. We seek to attract high-level players who have a passion for the game as well as a commitment to living by and embracing Christian principles in all that they do on and off the field. The team’s motto "One in heart and mind" (Acts 4:32) – is a reminder of how we have been called to live as Christians. “Each person willing to give of themselves and their talents for the betterment of the entire group and team.”

The Recruiting Process

Our goal in the recruiting process is to find top-level players who fit Messiah as a Christian College and meet its academic standards. It is an important process for both you as a student/athlete and for us as we try to help you make the best possible decision.  Here are some suggestions to help you in the process:

Make a visit to campus. You can schedule a visit through the admissions office at (717) 691-6000, and make an appointment through them to talk with the admissions counselors and with the coach during your visit.

Make a trip to see us play. It is very helpful to get an idea of what the level and speed of play is like, as well as see the team’s style and the atmosphere surrounding the game.

Make a highlight tape. We can't get out to view everyone play, despite how much we might like to.  A tape at least gives us a first look in evaluating your ability to play at Messiah.

Consider attending a Summer Camp. Click here to learn more about the camp schedule so we can see you play.
