A 1985 graduate of Messiah, Dave became head coach of the men’s soccer program in 1996. Over his 12 years leading the Falcons, he became one of the most successful coaches in the history of all NCAA athletics. His teams won six NCAA Division III National Championships and appeared in eight ‘Final Fours.’ He led the Falcons to eight Commonwealth Championships and saw his team awarded with four NSCAA National Player of the Year honors and 12 Commonwealth Player of the Year honors. Brandt was a four-time NSCAA National Coach of the Year and six-time Commonwealth Coach of the Year. Upon his departure from Messiah in 2008, Brandt’s head coaching record stood at 247-25-14 – a winning percentage of .888 that was first all-time in all of NCAA men’s soccer history. A former player and assistant coach under Layton Shoemaker – a 2001 inductee – Dave was also a four-time NSCAA All-Region performer for the Falcons. Upon graduation, Dave was the all-time leader in assists with 35, a record that stood until 2009.
