Derek Price did it all for the on the diamond for the Falcons in his four-year career as a pitcher and shortstop for the Messiah baseball team. In 2001, Price was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year for his outstanding pitching and play at shortstop. During that season the Falcons finished as the runner-up in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament, tied for their best tournament finish in program history at the time.
Price in his career set many records that still stand today. Price set the record for career complete games (22), shutouts (7), and strikeouts (256). Price also holds many single-season records with nine complete games, lowest walks per nine with 1.07, and tied for the most strikeouts in a single season with 99.
