Mike Helm vaulted into Messiah lore when he became the Falcons’ first-ever NCAA national champion – individual or team – with a first place finish in the 157 lb. weight class of the 2000 NCAA Championships. Throughout his career at Messiah, he was a three-time NCAA All-American, earning the distinction in 1998, 1999, and 2000. Helm, also a MAC Champion in 2000, was inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2006. At the time of his induction into Messiah’s Hall of Honor, he was fourth all-time in career wins for the Falcons with a record of 112-26.
