Patrick Roach had a dominant three-year career on the men's cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field teams. A captain for the men's track and field team, Roach helped lead the Falcons to MAC Championships in indoor track during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, and a MAC Cross Country Championship in 2008.
At the end of his career, Roach was featured all over the Falcons' record book. For indoor track, Roach set the record for the 200m, 400m, 4x200m relay, 4x400m relay, 4x800, relay, distance meter relay, and second in the 800m. Even 15 seasons later, Roach's indoor records still hold in the 400m, 4x200m relay, and the 4x800m relay. Roach also set many records in outdoor track as well. Roach set records in the 100m, 400m, 800m, and the 4x800m relay. Roach's outdoor records still stand today in the 200m, 400m, 800m, and the 4x800m relay. Roach 800m time of 1:48.77 was the eighth-best time in NCAA Division III history in 2009. After graduation, Roach went on to set a personal best time of 1:46.58 in the 800m to qualify for the Olympic Trials in 2012.
