Ron was a four year starter for the wrestling team and Ron set the all-time record for number of matches won. He concluded his illustrious career with a 101-14-1 record. The record for matches won remained intact at the time of his induction into the Falcon Club Hall of Honor. Ron was a three time NCCAA National Runner-up and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament each of his first three seasons. In 1982 Messiah joined the NCAA DIvision III and Ron became the first wrestler to qualify for the NCAA National Tournament. His fifth place finish in the national tournament qualified him as Messiah's first NCAA All-American in wrestling.
