1982-1985
Sonja broke school records in the 200 meters, 400 meters, long jump and high jump. In 1983 she became an NCCAA All-American in the 200 and 400 meters, and received the NCCAA’s highest honor of “Outstanding Athlete” at the National Championships. Sonja was the Middle Atlantic Conference Champion in the 400 meters in 1984 and 1985. In the 1983 NCAA Championships, she finished 7th in the 400 meters, and anchored the 1600-meter relay team to a 3rd place finish. At the time of her induction into the Falcon Club Hall of Honor her time of 56.64 in the 400 meter dash was the longest individual record still standing.
