Tammy excelled in both cross country and track during her four-year running career at Messiah. In cross country, she finished third in the Mideast Region and advanced to the NCAA national championship as a sophomore. Two years later, as team captain, Tammy set a school record of 17:10 to win the Middle Atlantic Conference individual championship, and again she was an NCAA national qualifier, finishing third in the Mideast Region meet. In track, Tammy was a MAC champion in the 1500-meter run her junior and senior years, and she also won the 5000-meter run as a senior, she was a national qualifier in both events. At the time of her induction into the Falcon Club Hall of Honor, Tammy held one track record and was among the top seven in four other events.
