Gettysburg, PA - The Falcons were successful against Gettysburg University and Washington & Lee University, defeating them 41-6 and 48-6, respectively.
Highlights of the first match include major decisions from
Kurt Rodriguez (125) and
Kyle Dayhoff (165). As well as a couple pins to end the match from
Jason Wright (197) and
Evan Canady (285).
The second match also went the Falcons' way, as they won nine of the ten bouts. Five of those victories came from pins along with one major decision and a tech. fall.
Fortunately for Messiah they were able to utilize a lot of guys that don't normally get starts to get them some more experience.
Messiah was slotted to also face Stevens Institute of Technology but they decided to compete in exhibition matches instead. Junior
Stephen Cannon, who recently won his weight class in the Messiah Open, got two wins on the day with one by pin. Another podium finisher at the Messiah Open, sophomore
Kyle Dayhoff, also collected two wins with a major decision and a tech. fall. Freshmen
Jason Wright (197) and
Luke Weaver (285) also collected wins on the day.
With these two wins, Messiah moves their duals record to 12-5 on the season. The Falcons will compete again this Friday, Feb. 15, at Elizabethtown College in a dual.
