New York, NY - During this weekend's “last chance meet” for the indoor track & field season, seven athletes showed their talent at Columbia University. Amongst intense competition at the Columbia Armory, a number of these Messiah competitors bested their performances from the indoor season.
Sophomore
Nicholas White raced in the men's 60 meter hurdles, racing a personal best of 8.35 seconds. White's time was not only a personal best, but also beat the current school record in the 60m hurdles.
Junior
Liz Martin competed in the women's 60m hurdles, finishing at 9.28 seconds.
Sophomore
Alex Yoder also had a very good day, setting a significant personal record in the open 400 meter dash of 49.57 seconds.
Senior
Aaron Reynolds joined the ranks of personal record setters this weekend, racing an excellent time of 1:57.49 in the men's 800 meter run.
In addition, three Messiah student-athletes had strong performances in the men's and women's pole vault. Senior
Colin Reisler, sophomore
Drew Engle, and freshman
Rachel Robison, all had personal records in their starting height in the event. Robison's initial vault was at 3.1m (10' 2”), while Reisler and Engle both started at 4.4m (14' 5”).
“It was a great meet,” said Messiah's head Coach,
Dale Fogelsanger. “It was a great meet for everyone who went and an excellent way to finish the indoor season.”
