Penn Relays Schedule and Statistics

Philadelphia, PA - Eleven Messiah athletes had the privilege of competing at the annual Penn Relays this week.
Liz Martin faced a strong amount of competition in the College Women's 400m Hurdles Championship on Thursday, as she raced in the first of seven sections. Martin placed fourth in her section and thirty-fifth out of sixty-two competitors with a time of 1:02.31.
Also competing on Thursday was Messiah's women's 4x400 meter relay team. The team, which included
Jacquelyn Young,
Erin Brown,
Emily Senning, and
Tiffany Burrows, placed seventh out of ten competing teams in the College Women's 4x400 Centennial/MAC relay race. The women's team finished with a total time of 4:15.83, Senning running a college best split of 1:01.5 minutes.
On Friday, the men's 4x400 meter competed in the College Men's 4x400 Pop Haddleton MAC relay race. The squad, which included
Aaron Reynolds,
Trevor Praetsch,
Nicholas White, and
Alex Yoder, placed first in the Pop Haddleton race, finishing with a time of 3:21.20. Praetsch split at 50.5 seconds setting a new personal record for himself, while Yoder split at 48.6 seconds, just shy of his personal best time of 48.55 seconds.
Fred Fulton and
Trevor Stutzman also joined the ranks of competitors on Friday. Fulton, placed ninth in the College Men's Shot Put Championship, facing competitors from schools such as Penn State University and Harvard University.
Stutzman, who competed in the College Men's Shot Put Eastern against competitors from schools such as Lehigh University and Bucknell University, did very well. He placed sixth out of twenty-seven competitors, throwing 15.89m (52' 1.75”). Stutzman also threw in the College Men's Discus Throw, placing nineteenth out twenty-nine competitors at 47.72m (156' 6”).
Following these exciting past two days of competition, the Falcons will travel to Shippensburg University for the Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday—the team's final meet before the MAC Championships next week.
