Results
Grantham, PA - Messiah College men's and women's swimming returned to the water for the first time in more than a month on Saturday, and both teams earned sweeps over Arcadia and Kings.
Both teams dominated throughout the afternoon, with the most narrow decision being the women's 130-72 win over Arcadia. The women also defeated Kings 133-69 while the men won by scores of 136-44 and 127-62 over Arcadia and Kings, respectively.
The women opened the day with a commanding 1:56.65 victory in the 200 medley relay and went on to win five of nine individual events on the day.  Multiple event wins came from 
Lauren Clune and 
Tara Freeman. 
Clune won the 1000 (11:25.47) and 500 (5:37.27) freestyle events and was joined by 
Anna McArdle who finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:43.78).  Freeman earned first place finishes in the 200 (2:00.15) and 100 (:54.70) freestyle, while McArdle had another second place finish in the 200 (2:06.47) freestyle.   
Other event wins came from 
Emily Reale who took first place in the 400 individual medley (4:54.26) and 
Gabrielle Brubaker whose time of 1:14.16 was quickest in the 100 breaststroke.
Hanna Schaffer and 
Laura Penwell battled in the 50 freestyle, resulting in a tie for second place at :26.14.
On the men's side, the Falcons won all but one individual event and swept both relays, despite the fact that the 400 freestyle relay was exhibitioned.
Aaron Eckman and 
Daniel Jessen led the men with two event wins.  Eckman was superior in the 1000 (10:56.81) and 500 freestyle (5:13.88) with 
Nick Wieder finishing a very close second in the 500 freestyle (5:13.98).  Wieder picked up a first place finish in the 400 individual medley.  Jessen won the 200 freestyle (1:53.28) and 100 backstroke (:57.14).
The Falcons finished 1-2 in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.  In the 50 freestyle, 
Ryan Shields came in first at :23.06 and 
Phil Rodo was very close behind at :23.62.  
Daniel Wingert (1:04.08) and 
Luke Sagaser (1:05.30) were first and second, respectively, in the 100 backstroke.
Nate Brown rounded out the individual wins with a solid swim in the 100 freestyle (:50.01).
With the wins the women move to 7-1 in the conference; the men move to 5-3.  The Falcons will return to competition in two weeks when they travel to Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, January 25.  The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
