Annville, PA - Messiah College swimming defeated Lebanon Valley on Saturday, with both the men and women winning by large margins. The men won by a score of 164-93 and the women won 178-82.

The Falcons dominated from start to finish, as the men and women each failed to win just two of the 14 total events. Even more, the women took first- and second-place in eight of the 14 events en route to their second-largest margin of victory this season.

Messiah got off to a fast start with wins in the 200 meter medley relay. Caitlin Magaw, Gabrielle Brubaker, Tara Freeman, and Anna McArdle were first for the women at 2:06.89, with Daniel Jessen, Daniel Wingert, Nick Wieder, and Nate Brown in first for the men at 1:53.50.

Emily Reale (10:05.77) and Abbie Stonelake (10:34.76) pushed the momentum forward for the Falcons with first- and third-place finishes in the 800 meter freestyle, respectively. Aaron Eckman (9:37.64) and Duncan McDermond 10:27.17) did the same on the men's side with identical placements in the same event.

In the 200 meter freestyle the women took second (Hanna Schaffer), third (Lauren Clune), and fourth (Brittany Redell) before Eckman took first for the men.

As the events rolled on, the wins kept coming; Laura Penwell, Katie Reiter, and Cassie Forman placed first through third in the women's 100 backstroke and Nate Brown placed first for the men. Emily Reale and Gabrielle Brubaker then took first and second, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke before Luke Sagaser also took first.

With the separation growing, the Falcons kept outpacing their hosts. Renee Ormond (2:39.33) and Lydia Ellsworth (2:55.26) finished at the top of the 200 butterfly, as did Nick Wieder (2:14.85) and Joe Cornelius (2:43.14). The teams then dominated the 50 freestyle, taking first through third on the women's side and first and second for the men.

Laura Penwell then picked up her second win of the day in the 100 freestyle, as did Nate Brown (56.80). More wins came for the women in the 200 breaststroke, 400 freestlye, 100 butterfly, and 200 IM before they settled for a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The men also won four of those last five events, falling short only in the 100 butterfly before earning the top spot in the 200 IM and 200 freestyle relay.

The win for the men moved them to 6-6 overall and 6-3 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. The women moved to 8-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

The teams will face Misericordia University on Saturday, Feb. 1 in their final competition before the start of the MAC Championships on Friday, Feb. 14.
