Falcons Wrestle Well, Earn Placements in Home Open

Grantham, PA – One day after beating Johns Hopkins University 33-9, No. 3 Messiah College hosted the annual Messiah Open. Jason Wright finished in third place for the Falcons' highest placement of the day, with four other finishing in fifth place.
 
Wright advanced to the quarterfinals at 197 before dropping a 3-2 decision to Dylan Devine of Maryland. He successfully wrestled back to earn a 4-2 decision of Brandon Litten of Drexel for the third place finish.

Russell Jones finished in fifth place in the same class, earning a 7-2 decision over Garrett Connor of Rutgers in his final bout.
 
Marshall Myers finished fifth at 125 to lead a host of other strong performances by Messiah. Myers took an 8-3 decision over Timothy Miranda from Elizabethtown.
 
Kyle Dayhoff (165) and Jeremy Bailes (174) also finished fifth for the Falcons, with Dayhoff earning his placement with a pin over Thomas Demetrio from York.
 
At the 157 weight Ben Wise won his first two matches (pin, decision) before wrestling back to finish at sixth. Nike Havener (184) and Luke Weaver (285) each finished in seventh for Messiah, with Havener earning a fall over Matt Zippilli from York.
 
The Falcons will be off for almost a week before they host Elizabethtown College on Friday, Feb. 14 in Brubaker Auditorium. The dual will start at 7:00 p.m. and will also be broadcast on GoMessiah.tv.
