Chester, PA – The Falcons had a great start to their outdoor season, as the men and women competed at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University.

Day Two (Saturday)

Despite less-than-ideal racing conditions, with steady rain and cold temperatures, the Falcons continued to see a number of good performances as they finished out day two of the Danny Curran Invitational.

Trevor Stutzman landed two solid first place finishes in the men's throwing events, claiming first in the discus on Friday night and seizing the same spot in the men's shot put on Saturday. Stutzman threw 16.10 m (52' 10")

Rachel Robison finished first in the women's pole vault, clearing a height of 3.27 10' 8.75" to secure her spot. For her performance, Robison was given the "Danny Curran Women's Pole Vault Award" named in honor of a former Widener athlete, who is the namesake of this weekend's invitational.

Nicholas White also had a first place finish, running a time of 15.95 seconds in the men's 110 meter hurdles.

For the women, Liz Martin ran very well in the 400 meter hurdles, today's race being her first time competing in the event since the NCAA Division III National Championship last spring. Martin dominated the event, finishing far ahead of her competitors to land a solid first place finish with a time of 1:05.65.

Trevor Praestch represented the men well in the 400 meter hurdles, pressing through the rain and cold to finish second overall with a time of 56.65. In addition, Max Whitehead ran his first collegiate 400 m hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:00.50, just half a second shy of qualifying for MAC's.

Four athletes made finals in the event, Kaitlyn Hostetler placing third with a mark of 4.93 m (16' 2.25") while Ersikha Eugene placed fifth in the event.

The men's 4x100 relay also had a strong performance. Tim Hampton led the first leg, followed by Nicholas White and Braden Miller, with Alex Yoder anchoring the race, to lead the team to a second place finish overall in the event with a time of 44.02 seconds.

In the men's 800 meter run Jonphilip McGill braved the unpleasant conditions to race to a second place finish of 1:57.88, a very good time with this weekend's weather in perspective.

The Falcons will compete next at the Millersville Metrics on April 5.
