Falcons Drop New Personal Records at Swarthmore

Swarthmore, PA – Messiah College competed in the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on Monday in what would be the final meets for many Falcons on hand. The men and women put forth a number of personal records and Liz Martin improved her national rank in the 400 hurdles.
 
Martin pushed herself to seventh in the nation in the event, setting a new season-best time of 1:01.49. She finished second overall at Swarthmore. Heather Gearity of Montclair State won the event (1:00.84) and is currently fifth in the national rankings.
 
Rachel Robison leaped 3.40 meters (11'1.75") to take third in the Pole Vault and set a new career-best mark. Victoria Scrima also set a PR, running 4:57.23 in the 1500.
 
Kaitlyn Hostelter took fifth in the Long Jump (16'6") and Marie Johnson matched that finish in the Triple Jump (35'2.5").
 
For the men Jonphilip McGill ran a PR in the 800 meter (1:53.70) and Alex Faus put up a PR of his own in the 1500 with a time of 16"55.48.
 
Matthew Miller took fifth in the Javelin (177'6.5") and Trevor Praetsch finished eighth in the 400 hurdles at 56.04.

Martin and Trevor Stutzman (Shot Put) will continue to prepare for the NCAA Championships while waiting to see if any other Falcons will qualify this week.
