Final ResultsCollegeville, PA - Messiah College men's track & field took second overall among 24 teams at the Collegeville Classic on Friday, with the women taking 10th in the same field.
Tim Moses and
Rachel Robison highlighted the Falcons' strong performances by taking first in the men's pole vault and women's pole vault, respectively.
Moses' leap matched his personal record and Messiah record mark from last week, while Robison fell just two inches shy of her own college mark.
As impressive as those performances were, they were just a few of the strong showings by the Falcons on the evening. In the 800 meter run both
Nathaniel Pardoe (1:59.23) and
Phil Headland (2:00.47) set personal records (PR) to place fifth and seventh, respectively. Then in the 3000 meter run,
Jared Schatz took first (8:49.75), setting a new PR by more than 30 seconds.
Tyler Sensenig finished just behind Schatz in fourth place with a time of 9:00.10.
Caleb McGaughran also impressed in a distance event of his own, setting a PR with a time of 16:26.01 in the 5000 meter run.
In the field events
Drew Engle and
Aaron Powell were strong for Messiah, with Engle (14'3.25") taking fifth in the pole vault and Powell (5'10.75") taking sixth in the high jump.
On the women's side the Falcons has as many strong showings.
Holly Eliason (11:15.29) and
Natalie Ross (11:19.93) took seventh and ninth, respectively, in their first-ever 3000 meter runs with Messiah.
Tasha Becker was also strong over distance, taking 5th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:16.49.
In the 400 meter dash
Tiffany Burrows collected on the Falcons' many PR's with a time of 1:01.86 and, along with Robison,
Hadlee Coker and
Marie Johnson did well in the field. They cleared 5'1" and 4'11", respectively, in the high jump.Â
The Falcons will next compete at the end of the month at the Highlands Multi/Open at Houghton College.
