Dallas, PA - The men's and women's swimming teams traveled to Misericordia University on Saturday afternoon.

The women dominated in their meet with Misericordia, winning by a team score of 170-90, while the men fell to Misericordia 139-116. The men also swam against Pace University, winning by a score of 206-30.

For the women it was much of the same as they've shown all season. They won 11 of 14 events in their final tune-up for the MAC Championships, which will be held in two weeks. Tara Freeman took first place in both the 200 freestyle (2:00.61) and 50 freestyle (25.59), as did Lauren Clune in both the 1000 freestyle (11:12.49) and 500 freestyle (5:30.68). Kaitlin Wingert also took first for Messiah in both the 100 freestyle (55.68) and 200 IM (2:20.54). Five other Falcons also led an event, a demonstration of Messiah's imposing breadth and depth of talent across the events.

The loss dropped the Cougar women to 4-7-1, including 3-2 in the conference. Messiah improved 13-2 overall and 11-0 against MAC teams.

On the men's side Aaron Eckman took first in both the 1000 freestyle (11:08.51) and 500 freestyle (5:07.34) to lead a strong effort. Nate Brown (50 freestyle, 22.31) and Dakota Schmalz (200 butterfly, 2:01.67) also led in events, though Messiah chased the Cougars from start to finish. Against Pace, however, Messiah overmatched their counterparts en route to the big win.

Messiah's men improved to 10-6 overall and 9-2 against MAC opponents. Their other loss in the conference came to Widener by just two points (103-101) back in November. They will also enter the MAC Championships in two weeks.
