Women Clinch Solid Win, Men Fall Short at York

York, PA- Tonight, the Falcons' swim teams traveled to take on the York Spartans. The women brought home a strong win, while the men fall short against York.

The women placed first in eight of the 11 events, including top finishes in the first (200 medley relay) and last (200 freestyle relay) events of the night. The Falcons had multiple swimmers leading their heats including Brittany Pond (100 freestyle), Gabrielle Brubaker (100 breaststroke), Emily Reale (200 IM), Kaitlin Wingert (100 butterfly), and Joelle Williamson (100 backstroke). Wingert and Cassie Cotton were especially dynamic in the first and last legs of the last relay, picking up times of 25.54 and 25.46 in their respective efforts.

The men were led tonight by Aaron Eckman who placed first in two events (500 freestyle, 1650 freestyle). Most impressively, Eckman broke the pool record in the 1650 with a time of 17:42.26. Dakota Schmalz's swim also earned him first place in the 100 butterfly (55.39).

The Falcons will return to the pool this weekend when they travel to Gettysburg on Saturday, Nov. 14 for a tri-meet against Gettysburg and Susquehanna. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
