Alliance, OH - No. 3 Messiah College took home four wins on Saturday at Mt. Union Duals. The Falcons dropped an opening match with Alma College before taking down Thiel, No. 28 Heidelberg, No. 14 Baldwin Wallace, and No. 15 Mt. Union.
Alma defeated Messiah 27-12Messiah started the day with a 27-12 loss to Alma.
Lucas Malmberg tallied the first team points of the match with a dominant 19-4 technical fall over Victor Sosa-Sevilla. Next, Alma struck back with four straight win that included three decisions and a major decision to pull away from the Falcons 13-5.

Jeff Hojnacki got the Messiah back in the win column with a 6-1 decision over Taylor McPhail. Once again, Alma responded in a big way with a second period fall over
Derek Beitz. Next,
Ben Swarr conquered his Alma opponent by a 12-0 major decision. Alma won the 197 and 285 pound weight classes to seal the victory over the Falcons.

Tyler Miller.

The Falcons responded by winning the final four matches from 174 to 285 pounds for the dual meet victory.
Derek Beitz had an impressive 14-7 decision over returning All-American Garrett Chase at 174 pounds.
