Women Make History as Falcons Host Red Devils

Grantham, PA - Messiah College women's swimming defeated Dickinson College for the first time in program history on Tuesday as the Falcons hosted the Red Devils in a dual meet. The women won by a lopsided score of 122-83.

The men fell to the Red Devils 139-66.

The women's historic win was supported by dominating performances in both individual and relay events. They won the both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay, and they took both first and second in the 200 freestyle relay, with an impressive 10 different Falcons contributing to those finishes.

That impressive depth and versatility carried over to the individual events where Kaitlin Wingert (200 freestyle, 100 freestyle) and Tara Freeman (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly) each took multiple wins. Joelle Williamson also won the 100 backstroke.

Emily Reale was also strong with a winning time in the 100 breaststroke, a third place finish in the 1000 freestyle, and a runner-up placement in the 200 IM. in that IM race Reale was bested by just 0.22 seconds for the win.

On the men's side Jason Maccannon provided a big highlight with a winning time of 23.29 in the 50 freestyle. The win came by just 0.05 seconds over his opponent from Dickinson.

Aaron Eckman gave a tremendous effort with second-place finishes in the 1000 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and 500 freestyle. Teammate Jeremy Wakeley followed him each the 1000 and 500 freestyle races, respectively.

Nolan McArdle took second in the 100 backstroke and he was close to another runner-up in the 200 IM where he settled for third.

The teams are back in action this Saturday when they host Lycoming College at 1:00 p.m.
