Falcons Show Well at Susquehanna Open

Selinsgrove, PA - Messiah track & field returned to Susquehanna this weekend and had another good showing, with both the men's and women's teams earning a mix of top performances and personal records.


Marie Johnson provided one of many Messiah highlights as she took first in the triple jump (11.00m; 36'1.25") and second in the high jump (1.63m; 5'4.25"). Her triple jump mark won by less than 1.5 inches, while her high jump measure tied the Messiah record set by teammate Hadlee Coker just last year.
 
Johnson also took ninth in the long jump with a mark of 4.78m (15'8.25").
 
Kaitlyn Hostetler also shined in the long jump with a measurement of 5.17m (16'11.5") to finish ahead of Johnson and third place overall.
 
Also in the field Rachel Robison earned a high mark in the pole vault (3.35m; 10'11.75") to take second overall.
 
On the track the 4x200 team of Tiffany Burrows, Rachel Bowser, Erin Brown, and Natalie Booz set a season's best time of 1:51.99 and finished third. The women's 4x400 took first overall with a time of 4:12.92. That team was made up of Julie Heisey, Bowser, Katie Heindel, and Burrows.
 
Other notable performances for the women:
On the men's side Cameron Shirk took first in the 800 meter run with at time of 1:59.38. Nathaniel Pardoe was just behind in fourth place, finishing with a time of 2:00.68.
 
In the 400 meter dash, three Falcons finished in the top 10 with Brady Miller's third place time of 52.02 leading the way. Jeremy White was just behind in fourth place (52.15) and Jonphilip McGill was eighth (52.77).
 
Jared Schatz also picked up a first place finish, doing so in the mile run. His time was a personal record 4:22.51, and led eight Falcons' PR's in the event. Tyler Sensenig (4:26.89) and Christopher Scheib (4:32.15) were fourth and eighth in that group, respectively.
 
Other notable performances for the men:
  • Donnell McNair took fourth in the hurdles with a time of 9.47
  • Drew Engle took fifth in the hurdles with a time of 9.51; Engle also took fifth in the pole vault with at mark of 4.40m (14'5.25")
