Final Results

Bethlehem, PA - Messiah men's track & field finished second at the MAC Indoor Championships this weekend at Lehigh University. Jared Schatz led the way with gold medal performances in both the 3000 meter run and the 5000 meter run.

"Going into the weekend the predictions on paper had us back by more than 90 points, so to see us make up more than 40 points is pretty cool," Messiah head coach Dale Fogelsanger said. "Our guys were great today."

Tim Moses also shined for Messiah as earned personal record (PR), Messiah record, MAC record, and national No. 3 mark in the pole vault (16'9.25"). For his performance Moses was named the Field Athlete of the Year.

"Tim has been settting PRs for the past couple weeks, and he was excited for this weekend," Fogelsanger said. "He wanted to bring the record back to Messiah, and he did just that."

Nicholas White and Drew Engle also set MAC records. White did so in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.30, and Engle accomplished the feat by collecting an impressive 4,694 points in the Heptathlon. White's oustanding peformance put him No. 16 in all of NCAA Division III. Engle's mark vaulted him to No. 20 nationally.

Trevor Stutzman earned the sixth gold for Messiah with a throw of 56'1.75" in the shot put.

In total, Messiah earned nine First Team All-Commonwealth honors and 10 Second Team spots.

"It was a really cool feeling to see our team come together and support each other today," Fogelsanger said. "We have great student-athletes. It isn't that we don't want to win, but being with our group today and accomplishing what we did, it's pretty special."
