Final Results | MAC Championships HomepageGrantham, PA – Messiah College scored 138 points to finish third at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Falcons collected three gold medals and a number of other strong performances en route to the finish. Misericordia won with a point total of 205 points, and Widener placed second with just one more point than Messiah at 139.
Rebecca Querfeld earned the gold in the heptathlon on Friday as she finished with a personal best total of 3621 points. In somewhat-odd fashion Querfeld did not win any of the seven different events, but she finished second in the 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put, javelin, and 800 meter run. Her impressive balance across the entire slate of events helped her win by more than 30 points over Emily Rogan of DeSales.

Earlier on Friday
Alissa Rogers,
Natalie Ross, and
Leah Novak finished second, third, and fourth, respectively, in the steeplechase to highlight a strong start by the Falcons. All three set impressive personal records, with Rogers, Ross, and Novak improving on previous marks by more than 46 seconds, 35 seconds, and 36 seconds, respectively.
Marie Johnson came close to adding to her Indoor gold in the high jump with a runner-up finish in this afternoon's Outdoor event. Johnson fell short of her season-best leap of 5'3.25" but still cleared 4'11.75" to finish second.
On Saturday the Falcons continued to pile up strong performances.
Marie Johnson took first in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 37'3.25". Her mark put her No. 38 in all of Division III.
Messiah's 4x400 relay was also terrific with a second place finish at 4:01.40.
Rachel Bowser,
Julie Heisey,
Emily Senning, and
Tiffany Burrows comined for the effort. Heisey also stood out individually in the 400 meter hurdles, taking gold with a personal best time of 1:04.70.
In the pole vault
Rachel Robison (10'8.75") and
Megan Renes (10'0.75") placed second and third, respecively to keep a strong day in the field going.
Alyssa Mills also did as much with a mark of 116'2" in the discus, good for third overall.
In total Messiah collected 12 First Team honors and nine Second Team honors in the MAC.
