Stutzman Falls Short of Shot Put Finals

Canton, NY - Senior Trevor Stutzman came up short in his bid for a fourth All-American finish in the shot put today, as he threw just 53'0.75" in his prelims and did not make the finals. Stutzman was fifth in Heat 1 but with only nine competitors moving to the final, he was edged out. He finished 11th overall.

Stutzman did launch a great throw on his second of three attempts, but he failed in the circle and it was not measured.

The final All-American spot (8th place) was earned with a mark of 53'9".

He entered this weekend's finale ranked No. 3 in the nation with a mark of 59'0.75". Entering this season Stutzman was a
already three-time All-American in the shot put, and twice finished as high as fifth (2014 Indoor, 2015 Indoor). Last season Stutzman took eighth at the 2014 Outdoor Championships.

Pavlovich Gets Taste of First NCAA Championships

First-year thrower Christian Pavlovich threw 188'5" this afternoon at the NCAA Championships, good for 11th overall. His best mark was collected on his third-and-final throw, while the other two were both under 184'.

Pavlovich qualified for this weekend's championship by way of a throw of 193'6" on his final throw of the regular-season. He was consistently in the upper-180's all season, and won the MAC Outdoor Championship with a throw of 188'11". He entered the event seeded at the bottom of the field, and his 11th place was the second-best among freshman throwers.

The last All-American spot (8th place) was 198'6".

Schatz Takes 14th in Steeplechase Finals

Two days after qualifying for today's finale, Jared Schatz finished 14th in the steeplechase with a time of 9:40.41. The race started of well enough for Schatz, and many of his early splits were even with his performance on Thursday (9:17.04). However, as the race wore on fatigue caught up and Schatz finished with splits of 1:20.09 and 1:23.58, respectively. Those two laps alone were 18 seconds more than his final laps on Thursday, and his final time reflected just that.

The final All-American time (8th place) was 9:05.11.

Despite the tough finish, Schatz season was quite spectacular, and his College-record steeplechase time of 9:09.11 could remain for a long time.
