Results Saturday's Results Lewisburg, PA – The Falcons returned to Bucknell for day two of the Bison Open Saturday.
Marie Johnson and
Donnell McNair led Messiah with strong performances in the field events.
Marie Johnson tied for second place in the women's high jump and took eighth place in the women's triple jump. She jumped season bests in each, with 5'2.5" in the high and 35'8.75 in the triple.
Kayla Miller took 34th overall in the women's 400-meter dash, but amongst Division-III opponents took seventh. Miller just missed her personal best in the event by 0.57 seconds.
Additional noteworthy performances for the women included:
- Emily Senning placed sixth overall in the 1000-meter run (second among D-III runners) with a time of 3:12.29 (it was her first time running the event).
- Holly Eliason (11:02.54), Natalie Ross (11:05.60), and Emma Mason (11:29.03) all broke personal bests in the 3000-meter run.
Donnell McNair took fourth in the men's 500-meter run and seventh in the men's long jump. His 500-meter time (1:09.25) was a career best, and his long jump distance (21'4") was his best of the young season.
Brandon Straley finished a place behind McNair in the 500-meter run, finishing with a time of 1:09.40, a new career best.
Looking at the distance runners,
Nathaniel Pardoe placed sixth among D-III opponents (21st overall) with a time of 4:33.97, about a second off of his fastest time.
Phil Headland placed third against D-III foes and 13th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.98.
Additional noteworthy performances for the men included:
- Braden Miller ran a 23.83 second 200-meter dash, his best career indoor time.
- Jared Schatz placed seventh overall (second among D-III runners) in the men's 3000-meter run, beating his personal best by eight seconds.
The Falcons will continue their season when they travel to Dickinson College to compete in the DuCharme Invitational on February 6.
Friday's ResultsLewisburg, PA - Messiah's men's and women's track and field teams completed day one of the annual Bison open hosted by Bucknell University on Friday night. The Falcons performed well, in spite of the tough Division-I and Division-II opponents they faced.
On the women's side,
Rebecca Querfeld took sixth in the women's pentathlon, earning a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles (10.02 seconds) and tying a personal best in the high jump (4'10.25"). Her performance also totaled a career-high in points, giving her 2,824 on the night. Teammate
Brooke Maneval also had a big night, tallying a career high 2,538 points.
Sophomore
Kristen Frawley earned her way into the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best 9.56 seconds. Frawley finished the night in tenth with a time of 9.60 seconds in the finals.
Rachel Robison and
Grace Riedel tied for fourth place in the women's pole vault, each vaulting 10'10" (a season best for Robison).
The men's distance medley relay ended the night on a high note. The four-some of
Cameron Shirk,
Max Whitehead,
Phil Headland, and
Christopher Scheib had a time of 10:37.05, giving them second place in the event.
The Falcons will continue competition tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 9:30 AM, with the meet concluding at approximately 6:30 PM.
