Falcons Split in Double-Dual on the Road

Gettysburg, PA – The Messiah women's swim team battled this afternoon at Gettysburg College for a dual meet against Susquehanna and the host Gettysburg. The Falcons walked away with one win as they defeated the River Hawks 137 to 124, a rather significant win as Messiah has only beaten Susquehanna twice before, but fell to the Bullets by a score of 154 to 107.
 
The Falcons garnered strong performances throughout the day and in the first event, the 200 Medley Relay, Joelle Williamson, Megan Freeman, Cassie Cotton, and Kaitlin Wingert took second place with a time of 1:51.47.
 
Wingert dominated in the 200 Free, finishing a whole two seconds ahead of her closest competitor, and finished first with a 1:58.31 time. Cotton finished first in the 200 Butterfly as she swam a 1:39.12. Tara Freeman earned a first place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 24.67.
 
The team of Cotton, Williamson, Tara Freeman, and Wingert took the top spot in the 400 Free Relay finishing with a time of 3:39.86. Overall the Falcons placed first in six out of 13 events.
 
Messiah will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Lycoming College for a Middle Atlantic Conference matchup. Meet time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Williamsport, Pa.
