Williamsport, PA – The Messiah men's swim team defeated conference opponent Lycoming College on the road in a close meet winning 125-118. The Falcons finished first in 5 out of 13 events on the day.
In the first event of the day, the 200 Medley Relay, the team of
Drew Wolfe,
Nolan McArdle,
Anthony Pompei, and
Andrew Leeper finished second with a time of 1:40.77. They were narrowly defeated by Lycoming who finished with a 1:40.16 time.
McArdle swam well in the 200 Free finishing second with a time of 1:55.07 and teammate
Jason Maccannon was not far behind with a finish time of 1:56.16. In the 50 Backstroke, Wolfe swam a 26.44 that place him second and
Eli McCabe finished third with a time of 29.81.
Jessen Daniel swam a 30.60 in the 50 Breastroke, finishing in second behind Devyn Goda of Lycoming.
Anthony Pompei picked up a first-place finish in the 100 Butterfly swimming a 57.51. In the 50 Free
Andrew Leeper took second with a time of 23.00, finishing not too far behind Jordan of Lycoming who swam a 22.73.
Drew Wolfe had another impressive showing in the 500 Free taking the top spot with a time of 5:04.25 and he also placed first in the 100 Free finishing with a time of 49.78 which was over two seconds faster than his closest competitor.
In the 50 Butterfly Messiah finished first and second with Leeper swimming a 25.50 and
Phil Rodo not far behind him with a finish time of 25.67. In the final event of the day, the 200 Free Relay, the team of Jessen, Pompei, Leeper, and McArdle placed first with a time of 1:30.69. That proved to be a pivotal win as it ultimately gave Messiah the meet win over the Warriors.
Overall a great showing by the Falcons today and you can find them back in the water on Tuesday Nov. 29 when they travel to Dickinson College. Meet time is set for 7:00 p.m.
