Grantham, PA – The Messiah College women's swim team was defeated on the road tonight by Dickinson College 123-82. The Falcons finished first in four out of 11 events but the Red Devils took the top spot in the remaining seven events.
In the first event of the day, the 200 Medley Relay, Messiah's team of
Joelle Williamson,
Megan Freeman,
Cassie Cotton, and
Tara Freeman finished first with a time of 1:53.26.
Kaitlin Wingert competed in the 200 Free and swam a 1:57.78 but was very narrowly edged by Olivia Lyman who swam a 1:57.77.
In the 50 Free
Tara Freeman came in first place with a time of 25.37 and she also finished in second in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:00.88.
Molly Martin finished in second place in the 200 Yard IM with a 2:20.45 time. Wingert took home her second first place finish in the 100 Free swimming a 55.88 and
Sarah Woods swam a 1:14.77 in the 100 Breaststroke, good enough for a third place finish.
In the final event the 200 Free Relay, Cotton, Williamson,
Brittany Pond, and Wingert finished in the top spot with a time of 1.43.03. The loss drops Messiah to 5-2 on the season and they will be back in the water this weekend when they take on the Spartans of York College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in York, Pa.
