Messiah Begins Season with Quad Meet Sweep

Frederick, MD – The Messiah women's swim team raced well this afternoon in their first meet of the season. They competed in the Hood Quad meet and won all three match-ups against Widener, Hood, and FDU-Florham.
 
In the first event of the day they finished first in the 200 Medley Relay. Joelle Williamson, Megan Freeman, Cassie Cotton, and Katie Wingert finished with a time of 1:52.17. Sarah Woods swam a 1:12.01 in the 100 Breaststroke that earned her the first place finish.
 
In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Cassie Cotton placed second with a time of 2:01.24, not far off Melaney Heald of Widener. Tara Freeman took first in the 50 Freestyle with a 24.45 time and Katie Winger won the 100 IM finishing with a 1:03.40.
 
Messiah also took the top spot in the 200 Free Relay, the team of Tara Freeman, Leah Williamson, Brittany Pond, and Wingert had a time of 1:41.13. Overall the Falcons finished first in eight out of 11 events.
 
The Falcons are back in action next weekend when they travel to Gettysburg College for a double-dual with Susquehanna University and the host Gettysburg.
