Season Underway as Falcons Compete at River Hawk Opener

Selinsgrove, PA – The Falcons' track and field teams traveled to Susquehanna University on Saturday to compete in the River Hawk Opener.
 
Messiah had four different Falcons take home first places in a variety of different events. Megan Renes placed first in women's pole vault clearing 2.90m and Tim Moses also finished first in pole vault on the men's side clearing 5.00m. Marie Johnson won the women's high jump event, jumping 1.53m and Donnell McNair placed first in the long jump, jumping 6.49m.
 
Aaron Gray set personal records in the hurdles (9.04), long jump (5.92m), and pole vault (4.40m). Brett Garbrick set a personal record in the long jump with soaring 5.68m and Erik Dyril set a PR in weight throw with a distance of 10.67m. Brett Koch set a personal record (9.17) in the preliminary heat of the 60 meter hurdles and Olufemi Obadina ran a personal record of 7.51 in the 60 meter dash to qualify for MAC's.
 
Additional noteworthy performances for the Messiah women are below:
 
Rebecca Querfeld placed third in the shot put (10.98).
Elizabeth Cole finished second in the high jump (1.53).
Taylor Wiederrecht took home third place in the 400 Meter dash (1:04.06).
Kayla Miller finished the 800 Meter dash in 2:30.75, good enough for third place.
Natalie Ross (11:16.63) and Alissa Rogers (11:16.69) placed 2nd and 3rd in the 3000 Meter run.
Kristen Frawley (9.64) and Abby McMinn (9.67) finished 2nd and 3rd in the 60 Meter Hurdles.
 
Additional noteworthy performances for the Messiah men are below:
 
Dane Cornelius (4.5m) and Aaron Gray (4.40m)finished second and third in the pole.
Joshua Pardoe completes the 1 Mile run in 4:31.09, good for second place.
 
The Falcons will compete Jan. 14 in Lancaster, PA at the Coach I Open.
