Grantham, PA - The No. 4 Falcons of Messiah College demolished the No. 10 Lions from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 29-10 Saturday afternoon in Brubaker Auditorium. Messiah took seven of the 10 matches wrestled and earned bonus points in four of their seven victories.

No. 2 Lucas Malmberg started the match off with a dominant 21-5 technical fall over Austin Maltez at 125 pounds. Malmberg fired off multiple double leg takedowns and used tilts to earn back points.

TCNJ responded at 133 pounds when James Goldschmidt earned a 15-2 major decision over Hunter Harris and tightened the team score to 5-4 in favor of Messiah.

Next, Arty Walsh put the Falcons back in the win column with an 11-3 major decision over Jimmy Gill. Walsh dominated Gill on their feet by scoring the only takedowns of the match.

At 149 pounds, Steven Schneider won by a 5-2 decision over Greg Kabakjian and tightened the team score to 9-7 in favor of the Falcons. The 157 pound weight class had a clash of two top ten wrestlers in No. 5 Larry Cannon and No. 10 Antonio Mancella. Mancella fended off Cannon's attacks throughout the match and used counter offense to come away with the 7-4 decision.

At 165 pounds, Jeff Hojnacki defeated Joe Paton by a 4-0 decision and started a five match win streak for Messiah. No. 5 Ben Swarr followed by grinding out a 6-4 decision over Doug Hamann. Swarr hit a slick duck under for the final takedown of the match.

No. 8 Kyle Koser dominated Alex Mirabella with a 17-2 technical fall at 197 pounds. Koser used two six point moves during the victory. The first was a cement job from the neuteral position and the second was a Peterson from the bottom position.

Jason Wright capped off the Falcons dominant victory with a first period fall over Evans Saso. Wright quickly scored a takedown and used a cork screw to finish off his TCNJ opponent.

Messiah improved to 17-2 with the victory and will be back in action Feb. 17 when they travel to Westminster, MD to take on McDaniel College at 7:00 p.m.
