McMinn Highlights Effort At Greyhound Invitational

Bethlehem, PA – Coming off of a short week, the Messiah College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Greyhound Invitational this weekend.
 
Saturday's Results
Tim Moses led the men's team with his first place finish in the pole vault. His season-best height of 16'10.75" was over a foot above the next best competitor. Dane Cornelius tied for sixth in the same event, clearing 14'5.25". Also in the field, the men's javelin saw two Messiah throwers finish in the top five, with Christian Pavlovich (188'5.75") in fourth and Matthew Miller (188'4.5") in fifth. 
 
The Falcons had two men tie their personal bests in each of their respective events; Nathaniel Pardoe ran a 1:54.96 in the 800, and Donnell McNair cleared 6'0" in the high jump.
 
Other notable performances for the men include:
  • Brandin Dych (4:10.39) and David Moretz (4:17.18) each set personal bests in the 1,500 meter run.
  • Caleb Burch placed ninth in the 5,000 meter run, and set a new personal record with his time of 15:33.97.
  • Josiah Haws set a new career best in the 100 meter dash with his time of 11.31 seconds.
 
Alyssa McMinn continued her fantastic weekend with yet another career best, this one coming in the discus. Her throw of 121'9.25" put her in seventh place. With that throw, McMinn has now set career marks in the hammer, shot put, and discus this weekend. Also in the field events, Marie Johnson set a new career best in the triple jump, with a jump of 37'4.5". Johnson also competed in the high jump for the first time this outdoor season, and finished seventh with a height of 5'1.75".
 
Emily Senning lead the way for the women on the track, finishing in fourth place in the 800 meter run (2:18.04). The other individual top-ten finish came from Catherine Springer's eighth place finish in the 5,000 meter run with her best ever time of 18:51.36.
 
Other notable performances for the women include:
A handful of Falcon runners also traveled to Bucknell University to compete in the 1,500 meter run at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Natalie Ross was the only woman competing, but she made the trip worth it with her new record time of 4:58.31. Jared Schatz (3:57.06), Christopher Scheib (3:58.77) and Cameron Shirk (3:58.88) all competed from the men's team, finishing in 13th, 20th, and 21st, respectively. Schatz and Scheib both set new personal bests with those times.
 
The Falcons will compete next at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University and the Ursinus College Invitational next weekend. 

Friday's Results 
The only event on the track this evening was the 10,000 meter run, and Messiah had plenty of men running. Christopher Falkner (39:32.67), Randy Lohman (39:38.44), and Chris Beardsley (42:54.99) each ran the event for the first time, and Jakob Davenport ran his fastest time ever (39:20.91). Davenport placed eighth, with Falkner, Lohman, and Beardsley following, respectively. Earlier in the day, Michael Boyles competed in the hammer, throwing a solid 136'11.5".
 
Alyssa McMinn started the weekend off for the women, throwing new career bests in the hammer (88'5.25") and shot put. Her distance of 38'9.5" in the shot came on her first throw of the day, and was good for seventh place. Freshman Becca Simon also threw well in the shot, missing her best throw from the indoor season by only an inch (33'5.75").
