McMinn Highlights Performance at Paul Kaiser Invite

Shippensburg, PA – The men's and women's track & field teams of Messiah traveled to compete in the annual Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Falcons had several top-ten finishes from the men to highlight the day. Starting with the field, Matthew Miller (183' 5") and Christian Pavlovich (183' 4") placed fourth and fifth, respectively in the javelin, and Dane Cornlelius finished in fourth in the pole vault with his height of 14' 5.25".
 
On the track, Freshman Adam Barley lead the way with his sixth place finish in the 5,000 meter run. His 16:09.64 finish was also a personal best. Tyler Sensenig (3,000 meter steeple chase – 10:34.40) and Josiah Haws (100 meter dash – 11.06) each placed ninth in their events. Both Sensenig and Haws set personal bests with those marks. Rounding out the top-ten finishes was Nathaniel Pardoe's 4:01.60 finish in the 1,500 meter dash, good for seventh place.
 
Other notable performances from the men include:
  • Joshua Pardoe set a personal record in the 1,500 meter dash with his time of 4:08.13.
  • Christopher Scheib ran a season best 1:57.07 in the 800 meter dash to place 16th place.
  • Scott Kerstetter placed 12th in the 400 meter dash with his time of 51.30 seconds.
  • Michael Boyles heaved a 143' 4" throw in the hammer to take 13th place.
 
Alyssa McMinn lead the way for the women with her performance in the discus. McMinn's throw of 129' 5" was good for a personal best and the second best throw in program history. McMinn has posted top program marks consistently in the event all spring. Alyssa's sister, Abby McMinn, also set a personal best, with her's coming in the preliminaries of the 100 meter hurdles (15.22 seconds). McMinn would finish the finals in 15.70 seconds to put her in fifth place.
 
Emily Senning carried the women on the track with her third place finish and personal best time of 2:15.13. Holly Eliason (10:44.21) and Catherine Springer (10:57.93) both ran personal bests in the 3,000 meter run and placed seventh and ninth, respectively. Just in between those two was eighth place finisher Tasha Becker's season best finish of 10:55.06.
 
Other notable performances from the women include:
  • Marie Johnson jumped a career best distance of 37' 5.25" and placed fifth in the triple jump.
  • Alecia Rohrer's personal best throw of 123' 9" was good for eighth place in the javelin.
  • Kayla Miller ran a career best in the 400 meter run with her 61.57 second finish.
  • Rachel Robison tied her season best height of 10' 8.25" in the pole vault and placed seventh overall.
 
The Falcons will be back in action next weekend when they compete in the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The meet will begin on Thursday, May 5 at Alvernia University in Reading, PA. Check GoMessiah.com mid-week for a championship preview.
