Falcons Finish Well At Messiah Multi

Grantham, PA - The men's and women's track & field teams finished up competition at the Messiah Multi meet Friday evening. Due to Saturday's unfavorable forecast, a handful of distance events were also contested this evening. The remainder of the Messiah Invitational has been moved to Monday afternoon, with an adjusted schedule. Check out the 2016 Messiah Invitational webpage for more information as it becomes available.

Friday's Results
Dane Cornelius finished in third place of the decathlon with a total of 5,365 points. Cornelius set personal bests in the discus (96' 4") and javelin (157' 5"), which helped him beat his previous decathlon point total by almost 100 points. Aaron Gray also set a personal best in decathlon points with 5,346, putting him in fourth place. Gray crushed his careers bests in the 110 meter hurdles (16.73), discus (109' 3"), and the 1,500 meter run (5:08.37) this evening, giving him a total of five new personal bests between both days. Matthew Kline (4,880) also set a personal record for decathlon points, earning him sixth place.

In the men's distance events, Alex Faus finished third in the 10,000 meter run (35:43.48), and the Falcons took the top five spots in the 3,000 meter steeple chase. Jared Schatz (9:48.21), Benjamin Schott (10:18.29), and Joshua Pardoe (10:36.78) took first-second-third, respectively.

Rebecca Querfeld also scored a career-high points in the heptathlon, collecting 3,700 points to earn third place. To finish her weekend, Querfeld set a new personal best in the javelin, with a heave of 98'. Brooke Maneval finished in fifth with 3,194 points, setting a personal record in the long jump (15'3.75").

The women's distance events were just as successful as the men's, as Catherine Springer (40:29.88) and Lisa Wright (41:46.02) took first and second, respectively, in their first time running the 10,000 meter run. Alissa Rogers also took second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:53.73, setting a new personal record.

The Falcons will be back in action on Monday afternoon as they continue competition for the 2016 Messiah Invitational.

Thursday's Results
Matthew Kline is leading the Falcons in the decathlon, sitting in fourth place with 2,751 points. Kline set a personal best in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.87. Aaron Gray (sixth, 2,660) and Dane Cornelius (seventh, 2,562) are next in line for the Falcons. Gray set new personal records in the 100 meter dash (11.76) and long jump (19' 1.5"), and tied his best in the high jump (5' 5").

On the women's side, Rebecca Querfeld currently sits in third with 2,290 points, and Brooke Maneval sits in fifth with 2,016 points. Querfeld won the 100 meter hurdles (17.00) and the shot put (35' 2.75"), and Maneval set a career best in the 100 meter hurdles (18.42).
